At the end of 2013, we got the bold idea to build an app for our telephony platform VoIPGRID. In February 2014, the Vialer app was launched for iOS and Android. We’ve continued improving the app and now, three years later, the Vialer just got a new release including CallKit integration. With one of our iOS developers leaving, it’s time for a new awesome mobile app developer to take on the challenge!
In your role as an iOS developer, you will be working on further improving our open source iOS app together with the mobile apps team. On our wish list are the increase of the stability of the app, the implementation of encrypted calling and video calling, and the development of even more new features.
While we were working on the implementation of SIP in the Vialer app, we decided to create our own open source library: the VialerSIPLib. We actively provide support to the open source community for the different iOS apps, so it would be nice if you’re interested in this as well.
One of the other things you’ll be working on is converting the codebase from Objective-C based to Swift based. There has been made some progress in this but there are some interesting tickets left to be solved before we reach the finish line.
Besides the primary salary, you can also enjoy:
We were the cloud before we knew that the cloud was a thing. We started out building a PBX for customers that don't need a PBX server in their offices. Before we knew it, VoIPGRID was the first fully functional cloud hosted PBX. Hosted on a fully redundant setup which we manage. We also leverage cloud-based solutions as we see fit for several parts of our infrastructure.
We adhere to an agile way of building software. We tweak the process we use to build software as much as the software itself. Call it meta-agile. Seriously though, it helps to be comfortable in a constantly changing environment, where you have a say in the direction it should be changing.
We ask all developers to share their expertise by doing code reviews and never be afraid to have their code scrutinized by others. No code is shipped without tests that prove it works.
We are committed to open source software. We share our own software where possible. Actively contributing to open source projects is regarded as part of the job.
We also like to share our knowledge in our blog posts and at meetups and conferences. We’re giving masterclasses and workshops at schools to excite the next generation of developers.
We work with Holacracy. This means we are a purpose driven organization where authority is distributed to roles instead of persons. We don’t need managers because we believe that all colleagues use their expertise to make the right decisions regarding their roles. It's up to you to do what you do best!
